I wasn't going to start any new projects but I just love the way these blocks are coming out. Now, I just need to get busy and pick out some fabric and get caught up. Barb Mcf

Hi, I am new to BOM and this is my first BOM from this site. I am not new to sewing, and am puzzled why I am having such an issue getting my pieced sizes correct. I have checked my cut sizes and all is good. I am using a 1/4 inch quilting presser foot, but for some reason my blocks are not coming out the right size.
My main mess up is with the step 3 block in January. I am not getting the 4 1/2 inch measurement. I go from 4 to 4 1/8.
Any advice? I have seen other blocks finished and they look lovely, so I know this all me, but what am I doing wrong? I am going to move onto Feb's block and see if that one comes out better!!!

It is NOT just you...that whole block came out to small for me....and I use a 1/4" foot on my ELna. I just learned to use a SCANT 1/4" seam and it came out OK...but not 100%.... I still don't have Feb. done..hehehe Anyone else finding the blocks coming out to small? THis is a normal problem for blocks generated in the EQ programs.

Jacquie, Thank you for your post! I though I was going nuts last night. I am a bit of a perfectionist so I check everything throughly as I do them. All my cuts were right on. steps one and two, right on! Step three was off--I did not really get the pressing direction. ***** For those that got the block right, any advice on how you achieved this step?? I pressed my sems up--this was the only way I could get close to the finished block size of 4.5, other wise it was 4 1/8.

Finished my March Block . and after the discussion about the block sizes being off, I went back and measured the 3 I have finished (I didn't measure each section as I went every time), my finished blocks are pretty close, maybe not perfect, but too small isn't the problem. I'm looking at about 1/8 inch too much in a few cases. Okay! I'm ready for April!!!

I was able to get my Feb and Mar blocks added to the album this morning Debo, sorry I never noticed you had asked me about these fabrics... The cream one is Michael Miller "moonlit petals" The gray is "Quilter's Paradise" by Gail Kessler (Just a side note on this one, it is available in a ton of different colors and is a FABULOUS blending fabric) The Black is just a solid black, so you could get that anywhere... The Asian Print is by Robert Kaufman "Oriental Traditions". I tried to find this one online and I did not see it on his site, but there are others in this line I found. The gold Butterflies are also Robert Kaufman "Watercolor Meadows" The rust border fabric is from Blank Textiles, and all the selvedge has is "Patt# BTR-3504" It resembles a hand-dyed. All of these except the Rust I got at the LQS in Keller, and the Rust I found at another LQS in Hurst. I didn't hear back from the lady from the QS so I went in search and found it...then I got an email from the lady at the show that she couldn't match what I had found anyway so I guess it was meant to be
