Hi Everyone,

I've been downloading the instructions for the 2008 BOM since January. I was going to do it every month, but I have way too many things that I am working on. I love to do mystery quilts and have been working on three at the same time, so I put this one aside until I finish at least two of those. I have been reading some of the posts and find that I am not the only one that has trouble trying to figure out value. I also find that a lot of the quilt patterns are made up to highlight a certain fabric line and its sometimes hard to try to substitute a different colorway. I'm a pink and purple girl and I throw in green sometimes as my "dark" or contrast. I was going to make this quilt using different pink fabrics in several different values and then a very dark green for the green and a WOW for the cream. I have put the fabric away for the moment, but I will take it out again to do at a later time. I will check in every month to see if there are any parts of any of the other blocks that need to be tweeked so I can make those changes. I have found that the quilting community is the WARMEST, NICEST AND MOST HELPFUL community that I have been a part of. I am sure that everyone will have a great time doing this quilt. Keep the piece.

I know how you feel. I more often than not end up using something totally different from what is used for a pattern sample. I made the first block for this quilt 4 different ways before settling on which way I liked the best, and ended up with a whole extra fabric incorporated that I didn't start out with. Once I had the first block settled it was much easier to determine what should go where on the following blocks.

This particular quilt so far is a really big stretch, both from the fabrics that Kim used for hers, as well as my personal style. It is a lesson in patience! So far I am really pleased with the outcome though, and I believe it will be a really striking quilt when it is completed. Luckily this time my gamble is paying off well!

I think I will pull my fabrics as soon as I see what everyone else did, or most everyone else. I am trying to be on a no buy year this year, so I'm trying to use up my stash/scraps. We shall see.

Reenee,

Good luck with the no purchase deal. I too am trying this and it is very hard!

I have had to modify it a bit, I can still buy--only if it is used in conjunction with other fabrics--plural--fabrics!

It has been a challenge, but it has yeilded some rather interesting fabric selections!

I've peaked, great block! I'm saving this years to add to my growing list of quilts I want to make. I'll have to live another 100 years to accomplish it but if we don't strive we never get anything done!

Hello all,

I have been working on this quilt since March and all is well...but May's block really put me in a loop...

I was shocked to find a 4 7/8 sqare in this months line up?? I did not know what to do, I did not cut any 4 7/8 stips..so I just cut down a 5 7/8 block to the 4 7/8.

Well catastrope was overted! I am now done with May and am ready to wait for June!

This has been a great joy and slight challenge for me. I will absolutely do this next year! And thanks to the designer for the good time!
