I'm not so worried about the block anymore, but doesn't anyone know if Kim is OK. It feels pretty worriesome to me that she hasn't posted and know one knows what is wrong. marie(the obcessive worrier)

I spoke with her yesterday for a short bit. She is feeling better and she hoped to get the June installment out soon.

Pat E, this chart has worked for everything that I have increased or downsized! It's great to have. It never fails when I find a pattern I like it's never the size I need.
Good luck. Betty "A friend is a second self." "I have many here on BC" Aristotle/ Betty "People do not quit playing because they grow old, they grow old because they quit playing." If you know what finished size you want each part of the block to be - eg original is 3", you want 2", or original is 4" and you want 2 1/2", for squares you just add 1/2" to the FINISHED size of the unit. For triangles - eg HSTs (half square triangle units), cut your square (that will be cut into triangles) 7/8" larger than the finished size. so for a 2" finished HST, cut each square 2 7/8", then either cut in half for two triangles, or sew 1/4" away from each side of the centre diagonal line after stacking two fabrics.
For quarter square triangles, add 1 1/4" to your FINISHED size. Check this: http://www.quilterscache.com/M/MathChartsPage.html She has lots of good info. Another site to keep in mind is http://www.needlepointers.com/default.aspx - they have a quilting section listed on the left column. and Judy Martin www.judymartin.com has a book available entitled "Judy Martin's Ultimate Rotary Cutting Reference" - it's great!! http://www.judymartin.com/products.cfm?catID=1 And she sells a Point Trimmer that's great for cutting off your dog-ears! Now if only I could find mine!! I hope this helps. The chart Betty gave is also great, especially for Applique and paper piecing patterns! Thanks, Betty! Gerda A day hemmed in prayer seldom unravels. Thank you everyone that has responded to my question. I will print them all out and use them frequently I am sure..
Now I can downsize the quilt that I really want to do, but it is 14" total finished size, and I need it to be 12".. now some math figuring will have to come in to play for me... and it has been years since I had to use any math... so wish me luck.. Thanks again. Pat E |

PatE, hey I had an idea! Buy Electric Quilt6 and it will downsize for you when you get your blocks in it! I do that all the time and most of the time the blocks are in their block library! If it's not then I scan a photo of the block and import it into Eq6 and trace it... then I can make it any size I want and print out Rotary Cutting Chart or templates. All the yardage is estimated also! Love my Eq6!

BettyE,
I would love to have EQ6 but for now, it is not in my budget. I do have AutoSketch though, so maybe that would help me downsize some also. I will have to give it a try while I am tending my newest granddaughter during the day, and while she is sleeping. Thanks again for all the suggestions. Pat E |

PatE, it depends on the block but if you'll email me your block or blocks and they are in Eq Library, I can change the size easily.
Email me at my email that is listed in im Profile! Betty "A friend is a second self."
