Okay Ladies, I am ready to start posting names for the March Happy Blocks!!

I have chosen the theme of SAFARI!!! See, Linda, I told ya it was going to be something WILD!!! LOL! Make the centers what you want or they can be SAFARI, I have seen lots of cheetah, zebra, tiger, zebra prints out there and I am thinking this will make a really neat and WILD quilt and hope you think so too and will join us for March!!! I'd like for us to keep it animal prints and no novelty fabrics also please.

Please follow the guidelines set forth moons ago for these great blocks!

Anyone interested in this swap should let me know how many blocks you want to make (limit 10) before the drawing date of the month. Names will be drawn on the first Friday of March, 2008 and the number of blocks you choose to make will determine how many times you get your name in the pot for a chance to win half of the month's blocks (your name goes in a max of 6 times,even if you make more - this was stated at the very beginning.) Each participant is responsible for sending half of her blocks to each of the two winners. I will PM everyone participating with the mail addresses of the winners).

The happy block is made from a 4 1/2" unfinished center square which is then surrounded by another single fabric as a border. The border pieces measure 4 1/2" x 2 1/2" unfinished for the sides and 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" unfinished for the top and bottom borders. The unfinished block will measure 8 1/2" square.

Please try to use only one fabric for the center square and only one fabric for the border so that the winner will be able to make a quilt with some design uniformity. You may choose to make all of your blocks identical or all different.

So - let me get this clear. The centers are Safari - fussy cut animals and/or allover jungle/safari prints/??, and the outsides might be animal fur prints or greens and brown like the jungles, grasses and trees?? Please let me know. I'm probably making this harder than it is. LOL!

Linda, to make things simplier I am going to change it to be that you can make the centers a solid or whatever to match the safari prints. So this might make it easier. I picked up some really pretty colors yesterday after work and hope to get them sewed this week and pics posted!

Yeah Jean so tickled you decided to join us too~~~ Isn't it a pity to have to go shopping for fabric?? LOL Hopefully I get to do some on Tuesday~ I have an appt out of town and I will be all alone, so hope to get to go to the fabric shop~~~

Yes, that is just fine Jami. I am going to try to post a pic in my post one so you all can get an idea of what fabrics I am using. If two of us use the same it is perfectly fine with me~~~ I am thinking of using black in my centers for these and on Tues when I go to the LQS I will get two more so I can do 2 of each fabric~~~ Oh this is getting to be so fun~~~ It's always fun the more that play~~~~~ Thanks Jami and Jean for signing up~~~~~
