Congratulations to the February Happy Blocks winners! Smile Smile

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your quilts!

This looks like so much fun, could someone please explain to this BC newbie how the Happy Blocks monthly program works?

I see that there are sign-ups and in the end there are two winners for the blocks. Is it always two?

Do you mail your completed blocks directly to the winners or does someone collect then all and send them to the winners?

What dimensions are the blocks and cut pieces?

You sew the sides on and then the tops?

How many blocks do you make? For example, if you sign-up for six blocks do you make six for each winner?

Lots of questions, I know, but I want to be ready to jump in for the April sign-up,

Smile Pat

This looks like so much fun, could someone please explain to this BC newbie how the Happy Blocks monthly program works? Every month there is a different theme. The First winner picked gets to pick the colors for their month.

I see that there are sign-ups and in the end there are two winners for the blocks. Is it always two? Yes, always 2 winners every month. Sometimes you get a lot of blocks depending on how many sign up.

Do you mail your completed blocks directly to the winners or does someone collect then all and send them to the winners? You mail your blocks to the winners yourself. They will PM you the addresses of the winers.

What dimensions are the blocks and cut pieces? The blocks finish at 12", 12 1/2" unfinished. The directions are usually in the first post of the thread.

You sew the sides on and then the tops? I really don't think it makes a difference unless your fabric is directional.

How many blocks do you make? You can sign up for a maximum of 10 blocks. For example, if you sign-up for six blocks do you make six for each winner? You only make 6 blocks. You send 1/2 the blocks to each winner.

Lots of questions, I know, but I want to be ready to jump in for the April sign-up, There is still time to sign up for March!! Oknana has March.

Smile Pat

Okay, I think I have answered your questions. They are in bold, behind your questions.

Thank you so much, Jami, for taking the time to answer all my questions. Ill take a look at the March sign-up and see if I think I will have time to participate.

[Edit: The March Happy Block Sign-up says unfinished blocks are 8 and 1/2 inches, so I see that I must always read the instructions at the beginning of the month to be sure I do this right.]

Think I will pay a visit to one of my nearby quilt shops on Sunday (where they are having a Superbowl Sale and most of their fabric is $6.00 per yard and their cut fat quarters are 25 for $25) and see what I might find. Smile ]

I have made so many blocks in the last few weeks, I got confused!! You are right, 8 1/2" unfinished! 8" finished! I should know that, I have a top that is just waiting to be quilted, full of 8" finished Happy Blocks!! I won last spring.

Thanks again, Jami. Your help was much appreciated. I get confused all the time ... or "confusalled" (as we say in our house)... so I am always checking and rechecking things to make sure sooner or later that I get them right. I have a quilt top calling me to quilt it right now, but my back is saying "time for a break."

Maybe I shall get lucky and happy one month someday ...

Happy Quilting,

Smile Pat
