Michelle, to answer your question on the labels. THE BACK OF ALL BLOCKS will have some kind of label. I want us to know where each blocks is from. I am just doing a sticky one with my name and state on it. The front labels will be left up to each individual to do AFTER they receive their blocks BACK. I feel this is fair to all. This way if you want a label on each one, you= yourself can put a label on each block and if you prefer them to have no label this is fine too. I am going to put a Jar Label on the BACK of my WHOLE Quilt with everyone's name on the back!!! So if anyone finds a Jar picture(coloring book style) that I can print off on my printer please let me know. I plan on scanning it into my puter, then type our names on it and where we are from. Thinking it will be cute on the back! Then, each person can decide if they want labels on their blocks once the blocks are swapped. Some want them and some don't. Hopefully this will help to make this fair for all.
Michelle, THis is my last post quote about the labels. If your labels are all different then this will be fine, bc it will be for your own quilt if they are for the front that is. Not sure If I am understanding ya. I confuse myself myself somedays! My jars are all done! WOO HOO! Only have to make the labels for the jars to pin on the backs of the blocks. That way you can use them or not - your choice. And regarding the lids - I tried to match up the seams of the lid and the jar corners, and none of mine would match up without taking more than a 1/4" seam, which then made that strip less than 8" across. I think this is the way the pattern was designed. If you look at a canning jar, the screw on lid of a canning jar really fits OUTSIDE the jar, since it screws onto the glass jar, and all of mine are slightly outside the button print fabric. They look EXACTLY like the lids on my canning jars - I checked. LOL! This has been a fun block to make. And seeing all the different fillings for the jars, this will make a beautiful quilt or wallhanging.

I have printed Labels for all my Jars. I am going to pin them on each block. You can use them or not - your choice. My label is an oval frame with the following centered in the frame: Button Jar "Canned" by Linda Olivera Richardson, TX I have printed them on the June Tailor Computer Printer Fabric. To attach them to your jars you can just put them on Lightweight Steam-a-Seam (or equivalent of your choice) and attach them to the front of my block. I would have done that, but since I didn't know who wanted them and who didn't, you can DIY! LOL!

Linda, I'm glad to hear that someone else has lids like that. I had the same problem with mine - finally got it to fit pretty good by "fudging" on the seams. But you are absolutely right - the lids do fit on the OUTSIDE of the jars in "real life". I'm making similar labels for my jars too - I sort of like the idea of labels on the fronts of the jars - but I also like Oknana's idea of a big label on the back. Nola
