Linda, I looked through my Hancock's catalog last night and you are so right - hardly ANY novelty stuff this time! A few catalogs ago they had tons of fun stuff! Guess I'll buzz down to the Berne LQS today - just to have a look-around. Checked at our other LQS last Friday when I worked there and she didn't have much of anything that would look right in a jar either. Hubby has a weird work schedule today and son won't be home for lunch, so I'll be free most of the afternoon to run around. LOOK OUT, FABRIC STORES - HERE I COME! If I don't find anything I like better I'll just use the apples - they are really cute. But gosh, when I didn't need them I've seen paperclips, shells, rubber bands, scissors, all sorts of stuff that would look great in jars. Nola P.S. Freyja80, that jar of candy is just begging to come to MY house!!!

Kylie, those are so cute .... ! Some of the new ideas sound sooooo much fun ... shells, rocks, guitar picks ... popcorn ! I am going to have to find more fabric and make more jars. I am going to the quilt shop tonight. It is okay to make some different ones and not all the same, Dorene? I've have decided, I have some Marcus Brothers that is fireflies on a dark background. How many of you country girls caught fireflies, put them in mason jars with waxed paper over the top and watched them while you fell asleep in the summer. My dad used to come in after we were all asleep and turn them back outside. Kat

Kat that is one of the best memories from my childhood. We lived in town where you didn't see Fireflies! But when we visited relatives that still had no inside plumbing and lived way way back in the country I would catch them. It's so much fun to do! I was in Hancocks yesterday and the best I found was the lady bugs but I would love to find the guitar pics! Betty

Kat, I love the fireflies idea. Even this city girl used to catch fireflies in the park at night and bring them home in a jar. My brother was a few years older than I and he taught me how to catch them into the jar and not damage their wings. My Mom said later he was the one who used to set them loose after I was asleep. In my imagination, I kept one all the time. Only me and my mother and I could "see" that one though. His name was "Blinky" of course. After "Blinky" came to live in a jar in the dark on my closet floor (he liked the dark) I did not have to catch them anymore. Instead I took "Blinky" with me to play with the other fireflies in the park. He always came when I called and said it was time to go home. I was nine when I finally decided one night that it was time for "Blinky" to go live with the other fireflies again, Pat "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."... from "The Paradox of Our Age" by Dr. Bob Moorehead
