No, Pat, my computer screen says the same thing. Deb, since I can't see your photo, just think Christmas green. Not quite as bright as emerald, but not as dark as pine. As far as color of ink is concerned, nothing was specified. I would imagine that most will use black since it is readily available, but unless Gerda says otherwise, I would think that any color you deem appropriate for your blocks is fine. Betty, big, bad wolf? Have you been talking to my mother? I answered the phone yesterday and the first thing out of her mouth was, "What did Little Red Riding Hood have in her basket?" My first thought was, "Good Lord, who is Mother playing Trivial Pursuit with?" Turns out that on this tiny little island that is only 6 miles long and 3 miles wide with one main street that is barely a mile and a half long, if that, through Ketchikan, there are 3, count 'em 3 coffee shops that blend and roast and brew coffee. And not one is a Starbucks! Every Friday, on his way home from work, my brother stops at the bakery and gets some tasty little morsel to share with my mother. They have a tea party, with coffee, when he gets home to celebrate the end of the week. Since he had recently celebrated a birthday, my son had brought him a blend called Little Red Riding Hood. I am sure she was hoping I would tell her scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam. Did you know that every culture has a version of Little Red Riding Hood? The closest I could come was cake and pot of fresh churned butter! So she was planning to make a butter cake to have with their new coffee this afternoon. LOL

Kylie, What did you cut? Deb, Your block looks fine. I like the gold ink, gives it a bit of sparkle.

Meg Glad it finally showed up for you, thanks for the compliments. Kylie What did you cut up ~ the pattern pieces? Can't want to see other pics with ideas on the block. There should only be 2 pieces then they are connected once you make them.

If you have never paper pieced before, please read one of these. The first one is quite simple and straightforward. The Bella article was written by our own Kim Noblin. You may cut your fabric into smaller more manageable pieces as suggested instead of working with a larger piece of fabric. Do not cut your pattern apart. You can use one as a template to make sure your fabrics pieces will be large enough. You cannot cut the pieces to the exact size. You need to plan on some waste, it is just the nature of the beast. As you stitch each line you will fold the paper away so you do not cut it accidently. Then you will trim the excess fabric away, leaving a 1/4" seam allowence. The paper remains in place until the block is completed and pressed. Only then is it removed. http://www.quilterscache.com/StartQuiltingPages/startquiltingthree.htmlhttp://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art14116.asphttp://www.karencombs.com/pplesson.htm
