You are right, Doreen, in that I haven't moved much. In fact I grew up two houses north of where I now live. When DH and I got married we just carried my stuff across the yard! We've lived in this house nearly 27 years now. I used to do custom sewing and I sewed for my family, which is how I accumulated so much fabric. Then I did rug weaving and accumulated a lot of other people's "rejects" to make into rugs. Since I no longer do the weaving, I've been going through boxes of stuff - most of which goes right out to the dumpster - lots of old double-knits etc. But I have found some rather nice cotton stuff and have washed it up and added it to my quilt stash. Never know when I might need that 4 yard piece of purple, or the huge chunk of burnt orange!!!

Ladies we have 8 swappers for this ugly quilt. My question to you is do you think we should move the deadline to sign up back a bit and try and get more people involved or do you think we should go with it and see what we end up with?

Gerda I still need your info Darling.

I vote to go with the original date - and maybe we could all add a couple more squares if we have enough ugly stuff. I, myself, have PLENTY!! Or maybe we could go ahead and start sending the ugly thing around but keep the sign-up open a bit longer in case a few others see how much fun we're having and wish they'd also joined.

Hi, Connie, I e-mailed you my mailing/e-mail addy info on the 9th! Did you not get it? Let me know, please, and I'll send it again. I sent it to nawma1@yahoo.com. Thanks, and looking forward to the swap, though coming up with ugly fabric was hard. Whatever the general consensus is, I'm ok with. Gerda

Connie-
Gerda convinced me (on another thread) that I should join this, this, this ugly quilt thing. Do you have room for one more? I may be hard pressed to come up with really ugly fabric. It's not that I haven't ever bought any (believe me, I used to work at Hancock fabrics- I've had lots of those what-was-I-thinking days.) More likely I gave it to my mother who wanted to make some ugly quilts so people could use them to lay on the beach instead of her good wool blankets. I will e-mail you my address etc.

You won't take this posting off until we're done will you? No doubt I'll forget the rules by the time it gets to my house.

Gerda I didn't receive your info so please try sending it again.

Meg has joined us so now we are nine. Smile Smile So glad to have you with us Meg.

I think Nola has a wonderful idea with us going ahead with the swap and leaving the join up date open so others can join once they see how much fun we are having.

So on Monday I will send out the emails telling everyone who is sending the quilt to you and who you need to send it too. Smile

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Doreen-
Speaking of flower children- do you remember splitting the inseam on the bell bottoms to make a jeans skirt? How about ironing your hair so it would be as straight as Twiggy's? That was good practice for today's adage to "press the fabric, not scrub the fabric"
