Okay, Company GONE!! Nice to have the house back. Midge - I will finish adding my pieces to ole ugly and send him on his way this week. Thanks for being patient for the holidays!! I do hate to let him go though.... sigh...

I have the finished and complete poem written by our own Doreen that will be printed out to attach to the back of Ole' Ugly.

Thought you guys might get a kick out of seeing it all together.

Sung to the tune of “Oh Where or Where Has My Little Dog Gone”

About mid-July with a gleam in her eye
Choosing fabrics that no one would want
Connie sewed up some squares, it was gaudy – who cares?
‘Twas the birth of a quilt that would haunt!

Leaving Texas heading east trekked the then tiny beast
to Massachusetts by mail
Now Doreen will stitch as I grow inch by inch
Then off ‘cross the ocean I’ll sail

(A couple of weeks went by and no quilt arrived at Midge’s)

Oh where oh where has the ugly quilt gone
Oh where oh where can it be?
Did it take a u-turn while traveling to Midge
or swim a lap in the sea?

We sewed and we sewed and the quilt it did growed
Oh where or where can it be?
Playing hide and seek on a mountain or peak
or stopping for coffee or tea?

We feared it was gone it was taking so long
Oh where or where can it be?
And then what a surprise, right before my own eyes
In the mailbox it came back to me.

Once again on its way to Midge far away
Signed, sealed and now guaranteed
To a distant shore will we wonder no more

So happy it shows from my head to my toes
Oozing with joy and with glee
Now Midge adds a few of an ugly or two
Then off for Nola to see!

I’m now off to Nola who’s south of Angola
She’s waiting so patiently
To add to my girth for whatever it’s worth
Then north to Wisconsin, whee!

Now to Mare who sews who’s looking for crows
And a sunflower too, I believe
Adding orange or brown or leaves from the ground
Oh what will she do to me?

She made a blunder with Wonder Under
What might she stick to me?

On my way to see Gerda who lives in Alberda
I spelled it that way just to rhyme
One stitch here and another one there
I’m having such a good time!

to Michigan traveling south east
Growing larger each stop, from the bottom to top
I am becoming a beast!

looking forward to meeting Dorene
We will visit a spell and grow larger, oh well,
I might stay for Halloween!

The poem is spectacular!!!!

Today must be the day for surprises. Not only did I get a job, yes you heard right I GOT A JOB!! but I got Ole Ugly. He really is much nicer than I thought he would be. My decision now is whether to put a boarder on or just bind. I do not have enough of that hideous stuff I was telling you about, I used it to back a cot quilt, the poor child will probably have nightmares. I am off to look for something to either add or back and bind. Thank you all.

Ole Ugly certainly did his job of bringing us all lots of fun and togetherness. He has traveled many a mile to land at your door Midge. And I'm so glad he has a good home now!!
