Hello, Everyone!

Thank you, Dorene, for hosting this month!!

It is time to play June Happy Blocks!!

Here in the USA, June will bring us summer Cool

... picnics in the park, days at the beach, fun at the amusement parks, camping trips, swimming in the lake ...

Let’s make a nice quilt for two lucky winners for a summer picnic !

The theme for the June 2008 swap will be:

Confetti Bright and Bold Confetti

Think bright primary colors …. candy apple red, royal blue, sunny yellow … add the secondary brights … vivid green summer lawns, purple petunias, citrus orange, lime green, watermelon pink, bright turquoise water… cut it up for happy blocks and you will have one bright and beautiful quilt.

Fabric Choices: any bright colored cotton batik, tone-on-tone, marble, or solid …

To make blocks, I pulled this out of my stash:

http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm214/scrapatches_photos/JuneHBFabric2.jpg

Please, NO PRINTS … a little leaf outline in green on a green batik or blue wave on a blue batik, or sun shape on a yellow batik is okay … but if your green has tiny pink and blue flowers on it tuck it back in your stash for another project.; if the fat quarter you find has geometric red, yellow and blue stripes, return it to the shelf

The idea here is to create a color block rainbow.

Cutting and assembly: We can play with the fabric a little this month by using more than two fabrics per block! You may use two, three, four or even five different fabrics per block. For this month only. It is okay to surround a bright red center square with a bright blue side, a yellow side and even a green and an orange piece.

Here is a sample block:

Think of something like the Yellow Brick Road pattern which uses squares and rectangles to make each block a little bit different. Here are my blocks in a sample layout:

These blocks would work great as a child's camp quilt or a baby quilt. They would also look wonderful with black sashing strips for a teen or young adult.

Please follow the new and clear rules posted here:

Grab some "Bright and Bold" fabric, sign-up with Dorene and have fun!

Confetti Let's play Happy Blocks!!!!! Confetti

I so wanted to start making blocks again in the next month or so, but I guess I may not be able to. The new rules may leave me out of everything. With a very ill DH, it is impossible for me to be able to say I can make blocks every month with no breaks. It was nice before because the rules allowed for me to take time for my DH when he is ill. It is kind of sad...
Everyone have a great day! I have missed having time to join in on all of the fun.
