Pat, Please put me down for 6 too~ picked up my fabric on Monday~ It is in the album for Feb, Mar, and April Blocks but I will get another album started soon, so we can post our pics there for May Blocks. I never shopped for Asian fabric before, so this was new and fun for me!~ Great theme idea Pat~

Ladies.....I tried asking Dirt Ball in our thread but she suggested that I post the question here.
I am a gardener, not a quilter. I do some sewing and LOTS of machine knitting and crocheting. The question is.....what length stitch do you use on your quilt blocks? I am partaking in this and want to be sure that I make them right. Also, do you zig zag the edges? I don't have a surger, but just use my zig zag when I make clothes for my kids/grand kids. Let me know and I will get started on them soon. Mary ~Summer is coming!~ |

Nice to see you in here!!! These gals will keep us lined about...lol You need to just TRY using a rotary cutter once (can you borrow one to try?). You'll be hooked for life. One template...and a rotary cutter a couple years ago...and it’s alllll been down hill for my checkbook ever since..hehe I am a bit of a "spaz" so I bought the r-cutter that automatically closes when you release your grip. A funny note in my first quilt class was our instructor saying “ Ok...we made it through cutting our borders and sashes and there is no blood anywhere...that’s a great sign”...lolol She was a hoot! Shelia - I always make a "Quilters -B-Line" for the back room of our local quilt shop. I start there and then work my way into the main shop. I have scored great fabric for quilt backing and my newly growing stash. They have so much nice quality fabric on sale (½ price) back there including a fat quarter area which could hide some Asian looking fabrics. Do we post our block photos when we get them done or wait until the actual drawing date? This is going to be soooo much fun! Poof* |

Mary, to Happy Blocks! It is wonderful to have you joining us! Thank you for PM'ing me your personal info. As I said in my response, I am going to put together a "Making Happy Blocks For the 1st Time" post and ask Oknana to read it over and offer corrections and suggestions before I post it. I will get back with this soon. Best of luck, |

Mary of 2 Many Cats -
Usually a normal 12 (approx) stitches to the inch works well. You don't need to do anything to the edges - just leave them raw. LOL! They are very easy blocks. Linda O Texas |

When I went to the quilt shop yesterday to deliver the sample for my applique class, several FQ's of oriental fabrics just jumped off the shelf and I had to bring them home. They are in the washer right now. I decided that they will go well with the ones I already have. Of course, I have much more than I need to make those 6 blocks so guess the rest of it will have to age in my stash.
