Ok... I have to CONFESS a not soooo Happy Block story...lol It’s better now. I think my guardian angel has a “quilters streak” in her...lol

I got sooooo excited about Happy Blocks...and the Asian theme etc. Well....... I knew I had some nice Asian fabrics buried in my stash. So....... I dove right in and started to make them up. A little “hmmmmmmm” light came on in my head...but I couldn’t figure out exactly what it was..............well........ Red Face DOH!!!! **smacking myself in the forehead**” Red Face...er.......a.........the fabrics I cut up for my happy blocks were the border fabrics for an oriental themed quilt I had purchased the fabrics for a several months ago....arughhhhhhhh!!! My experience of going back months later to ANY quilt store to find MORE fabric has never been successful, but loooooooooo and behold... I popped in this weekend...and as I was looking for some Hemlock tea to put myself out of my misery... I FOUND my fabrics again...lol Whewwwwwwwww........ so.. I bought enough to replace what I had cut up. I feel better now...lol I was in disbelief when it dawned on me WHY I had Asian fabrics...and WHAT I had just zipped up into HB’s... *gasp*. Soooo... I have a new rule in my stash cupboard. I think I will now bag up the fabrics I’ve purchased for specific things and MARK THEM.

Does it hurt fabrics to lock them into zip lock bags? Just wondering...

Oooonnnnn with the Happy Block project! I would have never admitted my stupidity had I not found the fabrics again. I would have just been ILL over it...lolol

Poof*

Felicia, I've done the same! Didn't find the same fabrics again, though. I'm happy you did! who'd a thunk they'd still be there, eh?
As far as putting fabrics in plastic bags, I think it depends where you live. I live on the prairies, so it's a dry climate and not a problem with mildew or mold. If I were you, seeing as you live on/near the coast, I would use the vegetable ziplock bags (Glad, I think it is) - they have little air holes for the veggies in them to breathe. That should be OK.

On a side note, thanks for the link for evening smelling flowers on another thread - I saved the main pages! Wonderful site!

Thanks for the veggie ziplock bag tip! I assure you I WON'T DO THAT AGAIN with fabric...lol I was seriously mortified...lol I'm taking this little experience as a warning shot...lol Label label label...lol

I'm glad you enjoyed the site. Flowers that put out their fragrance in the evening are really wonderful! If you get a soft summer breeze it will just waft their fragrance right into your bedroom window! Mmmmmmmm...... heaven scent..lol Wink

Felicia, I love your new avatar and signature graphic. So colorful and spring-like! Shamrock

I am happy you found more of your fabric. Just think ... if you win in May, your Happy Block quilt will have fabrics that match you other quilt. MMMM ... yummy.

I stack fabrics I intend for a particular quilt together, make a copy of the pattern on my copier and slide it into a sheet protector put it on the bottom of the stack and tie them all together with a matching narrow ribbon and put them in a special spot with my stash. I do this with my BOM fabrics, too, or I put them in their own basket next to my machine where I can find them easily. I also do this with fabrics I am gathering for a particular pattern.

Hmmm ... I have more than a few pretty bundles of fabric collected. I love to take them out sometimes and just enjoy the fabric and refold, restack and re-tie them.

Okay ... I am Pat, I am fabricholic and I admit it ... <3 <3 <3 ScraPATches

Morning Pat..
You posted while I was posting to Gerda...lol We posted 1 minute apart...lol TY..TY... I do love to seasonally decorate my little cyber spaces. Best part is I don’t have to dust the knickknackies I use...lolol It's fun, but a bit OCD-ish if you think about it.. Roll Eyes.lol I need a 12 step program!! I have a bad addiction for copping little graphics from the web and using them for AV's etc. One night I got started doing that and had a whole file of AV’s for my NHGC family. It was just too much fun matching the silly little graphics with each person’s personality. We are a quirky bunch...lol

Now.. I REALLY LIKE your idea of organizing fabrics with the pattern...and tying them up like the quilt shops do. I love that you LOVE to get your fabrics out to pet and play with them. I RELATE to that totally...lolol Cinda and I have a little deal we started that if either of us travels very far we bring back fat quarters to each other. When I was in San Francisco last January I had a blast not only hunting for fabrics for me...but Cinda. Ohhhhhh....and Dori was in HI a few weeks ago and she brought me back fabric too! It really is a SICKNESS...lol

Ok...off to get busy. I have an unexpected day off...and I want to use it productively. .

Huggers...and poof*

Lol ... Felicia, I just posted a reply to you in the garden thread on evening blooming plants ... we are playing tag around the forum here Sporty

It is a good idea to refold fabric from time to time anyway so it does not get permanent creases ... well, it makes a good reason for handling and smoothing it ... Wink

Time for me to go *poof* for awhile, too ... Pat

Hi Debbie,

It is wonderful to have you join us in this swap!

Please PM me your personal info.

I think this is going to make a beautiful quilt. When I looked at your safari block quilt I thought, hmmm ... now this would be a nice setting for the oriental fabric blocks ... on point, black sashing, gold posts ... could look stunning.

Best of luck winning the blocks in May!

Smile Pat
