Seems to me if the phone number is put in the profile and that is verified by the hostess the same thing has been accomplished as what had been asked. Don't know why it got so complicated or threatening. None of us want to put ourselves at risk for internet predators. I for instance, do not like using Yahoo messenger for a variety of reasons so I don't take part in Trivia now that it was moved there. That's my loss.

I would not want my phone number posted on the open forum even though I know for 99% of us our numbers are readily available from free search engines like zabasearch with very little effort.

Trina, I don't think anyone is blaming anyone when the mail lets us down.

I don't like to be involved with all the uproar but I have decided to say this - When decisions are made each person that is active should be part of that. I feel that I must not really be considered part of the group since I didn't know what was going on until someone told me about it.
I think each of you are special and the talent on this site is unbelievable! I have told people about this site because everyone was so nice and always ready to help. To me this was such a good place to come.
Unless we walk in someone else's shoes we don't fully understand them. I have no problem giving my phone number to a Hostess. But I haven't been in Meg's situation. But I think the phone number is a good idea and I have sent mine to HolyRowly. If I'm going to be in her swap I have to trust her.
I say that everyone get past this and try to get along. It's too late to get upset about something that has already happened. Let's have a group hug and be happy.

I hesitate to jump into the fray, but I am an advocate of the rules. Folks go into the swaps in good faith and then a few get burned - that should not happen, and if phone numbers, etc. will help prevent that, then so be it. I also agree if commitments have not been met, then there should not be involvement in another swap until the previous commitments have been met.

Goodness, being away from the computer for most of the day puts me way behind. I must put in my 2 cents! The rules have always been there. Deadlines must be set and followed. Yes life happens, but when you've worked hard for the dealines,enjoying what you are doing and anticipating the reaction of the recipient and then you do not receive your gift. It's not a good feeling and to have had this happen twice..well it's just not right. If I could not finish what I needed to, I could email anyone of you and you would finish it for me! The only way I would impose was if I could not physically do what I needed to do to get that gift to my name! Enough said! That's all!

May I please try to explain how this came about?
The initial Pm was sent to a group of people in order to help sort out a present for someone who had not received anything in one of the swaps.Someone had dropped out,and through no control of the swap host one lady came out of it all with nothing.
There was no intention by anyone to discuss anything other than this.
However as threads do the topic took a sideturn, to try to settle everyones mind Connie posted the rules for swaps.... she didn't make them up, they were the standard rules just reiterated, with the new rule of phone numbers.
It was in no way anyones intention to make anypart of this forum feel excluded.
I love the peole on this forum, they are the greatest bunch of ladies I have ever known.
Please Judy, and anyone else, do not feel excluded from anything, you are as a big a part of this forum as anyone is.It wouldn't exist without Kim and every single other member.
I hope this helps to explain what happened. The very last thing intended was to hurt anyone or make them feel excluded, the phone number issue was to help hosts nothing more.

Thank you and I understand. In the future there should be a topic so that everyone has a say. For my Happy Block swap I took everyone's advice into consideration. I'm not upset in the least. I did feel that there was a clique as 2 people said that only the Christmas swappers were PM'd. But there were others in the swap that did not become part of the decision.
I will see how things go and stay here but I will be honest. I don't like people upset. I thought this was such a good place and it can be again. Remember "Girl's Just Want To Have Fun"
