Since we are talking about losing weight and all, can I share some happy news? I was so afraid when I had Sammy that it would take me forever to be myself physically again. However, two months after I had him I have lost 4 more pounds than I gained while pregnant. This is my happy news that I love sharing with every person who has ears.
Sammy and I also plan to start walking as soon as the weather clears up and he has his immunizations. We need to get the dogs out more since they get a bit less attention with the baby here.
To everyone who is out there walking and getting in better shape, I say, BRAVO!!
Great, Jess!!! Sounds like me - many years ago when I was pregnant with our daughter (our first) - I only gained 9 pounds while pregnant and after she was born I weighed 5 pounds less than when I got married! 145# and could wear my Size 12 jeans again! But then the weigh started creeping on. I only gained 10# when pregnant with our son - but I never lost back down after his birth. A few years ago I hit 210# and just decided that was TOO MUCH! I lost quite a bit several years ago - got back down to 167, then gained a lot back again!
Now I'm determined to take it off and NOT put it back on again!
Wish you lived near me, Jess. We'd walk our dogs and baby Sammy together! I have two fat lazy dogs that need to get out more too!
Nola, can't you just slip over each morning from Indiana to Michigan?? Emma Lou and I could use some walking company in the morning....and again in the afternoon....Iam afraid that is the only drawback to walking with my canine best friend, she refuses to have much of a conversation..too busy sniffing and doing her business!!

Maybe all of us can keep each other on track. I, too, want to lose 15-20 pounds. I wanted to lose 10-15 before I left for California for a month, and I GAINED 10 POUNDS while I was there! Since Christmas I have lost 7 pounds, so still have 15-18 to go. In 2007 I have gone to the gym every day except 1 so far - want to go 3-5 times per week at minimum.
I enjoy walking outside better, but the weather needs to warm up a bit first. I'd like to find a walking partner, too. A quilter would be perfect, cuz then we could discuss quilting and the time would go faster!!
11.5 miles walked on the treadmill since 1/1/07.
We can all do it!

Yeah! Great idea Linda! I love adding the miles to my signature line. Makes me feel like I'm going somewhere (no pun intended, lol).
I really haven't weighed myself since my last dr. appt. four weeks ago. I decided to get on my scales yesterday afternoon and it showed that I was 6 lbs lighter! Not trusting my 20 year old scales, I weighed again at my mom's house last night and it showed a loss of 4 lbs! I've definitely lost something, just not sure what. I'm going to claim 4 lbs for now.

WOW! Your numbers are adding fast Kim. Lookin' good.
OK....now you have me all ginned up again. Think I'll dig out that pedometer and clip it on again. Maybe someone should start a thread just for all of us to post our progress. That way we can drop this thread and move on. ??
I want to be in on this walking thing too ladies Last year I bought a pedometer that tells me how many miles I have walked and how many calories I have burned. I was walking in the mall in town as I love to look at the people. LOL I got out of the habit about four or five months ago, about when I had all that dental work done and have since put on a few pounds. Ha just a few is a nice way to say it. LOL I was up to walking 3 or 4 miles three times a week. I desperately need to get back to getting some exercise so let do a thread where we can all keep track of our progress. I can't track my weight loss though as I don't own a scale. But I can keep track of how far I have walked. Me and my MP3 player will get started right away.

The only people with whom you should try to get even are those who have helped you.
I definitely do not need to lose weight, but I need to stay in as good shape as possible at my age(75). I have a tread mill & walk 5 miles, 3 X per week. If I am having a good day, I can do that in 30 minutes. It is not the speed, it is a matter of always doing it (& I do) TeXas
