Debi, you did a great job on the block. It is beautiful.
Linda, I have a question concerning the colors. I know that the colors are suppose to be red, white and blue. Can the white be a cream to tan colors, or does it need to be a true white? And also wondering about the red and the blue. Does it need to be a true red and true blue or can it be a variation, you know, for example, like turkey red? Trina

Hey, anything to get me going after a dry spell. I may make some more tomorrow just because this one surprised me with its ease... that is *after* I sewed the quarter triangle squares together wrong... twice. Debi (NOT the most precise on the planet...)

Very nice block, Debi! And we all, and I mean all, have to unsew a time or two (or more) in one block. Just have to remember to keep the block laid out and pin! I sometimes wing it and have to unsew! Your blocks will be gorgeous!

WOW!!! That is just awesome!!! Love the color combo!!!
Happy Quilting! Bama Deb ~ Sweet Home AL I have always been interested in people who make me laugh!!! You can never have a dull moment with these people. And if you happen to have "one of those moments" then it's okay, they just laugh with you.
Hmmm A red white and blue theme with color varations...I kind of like that! But I will go with the group!

Thank you all for the compliments. I'm heading out in a few minutes to get that WOW I need and then I'm going to play some more! Though I suppose I should finish that bag I'm making, but the stabilizer gunk up the needle, and it needs black thread (got white on the machine right now) and *insert favorite excuse here*... Debi

Great block, Debi! You're off to a fine start wih your pattern already picked out.
The blocks don't have to be ALL red/white/blue; I just suggested that because of patriotism. I was thinking of predominantly R/W/B with other colors for accents. And I would think that in a set of 12, if the pattern was the same it wouldn't matter if the colors weren't identical in all the blocks, since each of us would be getting one of the blocks. Even Khaki or cammo if that fit to honor the servicemen. I really don't think we should be limited to colors.
What does everyone else think?

I think red/white/and blue always makes a lovely quilt. It might limit what some participants want to do for their block, though. Too many colors might seem busy to some, but I think that could be rectified by sashing choices. How's that for staying in the middle of the road?!? LOL I guess I'm saying that I can see both viewpoints and I am game for anything.
